Take Action

Share Your Voice

The Partnership for a Healthy Community wants to hear from YOU! We're collecting real stories from Tri-county residents to show what food insecurity truly looks like in our backyard. Anonymous. Optional. Powerful.

Here's how you can help:

  • Follow the link: go.illinois.edu/hungerstory
  • Take our short survey and help build a picture of hunger that our community can see
  • Upload a photo for our Photo Voice Collaboration
  • Volunteer to record a personal story to be shared on social media.

Because understanding hunger starts with hearing from the people who have lived it.

Feeding Hope Award

This award will celebrate a community organization, volunteers, nonprofit, educator, food pantry, program leader, or someone else who consistently goes above and beyond to help others. To submit a nomination, visit go.illinois.edu/feedinghopeaward

Lulu and the Hunger Monster Story Times

During the month of September, volunteer readers will be sharing the story of Lulu and the Hunger Monster by Erik Talkin in area schools and daycares. The story provides a realistic account of food insecurity in the home. The story helps children build awareness around the issue of hunger, increase empathy for others who are food insecure, and demonstrates ways to help end hunger.

Attend a family-friendly story time:

  • September 15, 2026  3:30 PM, El Paso District Library, 149 W 1st St, El Paso

Visit a special Story Walk in Morton at Morton Public Library, 315 W Pershing in Morton during the month of September. Walk through the outdoor storybook to learn more about Lulu!
